Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 10 amβ9 pm. It is closed on Wednesday. Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Philadelphia is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I love Dimsum; and have had a lot of authentic Dimsum. Chinese food from street food to fancy delicacies is amazing. But food in the restaurant is garbage . You will literally taste and smell it. How can they screw Dimsum. Dimsum by its own nature is a 5/5 food, but this restaurant magically trash all recipes. They really donβt deserve 3.9 Google rating. On top of that the cashier and the guy standing next to her, policing all tip and payments, are obnoxious. They running a scam , forcing fix minimum tax-free tips without providing receipts or any signs clearly stating βAutomatic Gratuity β or βMandatory Service Charge β to pocket 9% tax on that. I hope an official tax auditor see this and keep them responsible. This is up right at the front where everyone can see , then just imagine what is going on in the kitchen and that smelly garbage they are serving to people.

Avoid this dim sum place at all costs. There are other options in the city. The food preparation must not be clean because my wife ended up with foodborne illness. Good thing I didn't really touch the food since Iβm avoiding carbs as a fitness enthusiast. The service was horrible as well. My kids asked for water 3 times, and they never brought it out. They all give you attitude. I should have gone to the review about the mandatory tips as well. I went to pay and hit declined on the tips since I preferred to tip in cash at buffets and dim sum places, and the lady at the cash register, ignorantly, said, "Are you tipping at the table?" I responded, of course. That was rude and unexpected. After leaving $6.00 in cash for tips, another server who had not served came and placed a plate of food on our table. I guess she was the decoy, meant to distract and keep us there while they counted the cash. She then told me the exact amount of my bills and said to add 6.00 more, and it's mandatory to add 15%. Really? Horrible service. If you want good tips, then treat your customer with respectβit's a bad business practice.

This Ocean Harbor cannot compare with the Ocean Harbor from 20 years ago. I took my family here out of nostalgia, but this restaurant is no longer the same. We were greeted(frowned upon impatiently) by a very old grumpy man who waved to the nearest table to him as if we were bothering him by stepping into the restaurant. When we asked whether we could go to a different table instead - a little away from the steps, he begrudgingly said ok and sent us over with another wave. The carts coming over are frequent and pushy; the waitresses old and unhappy; the food mediocre and pricy. It is not a place we would visit again.

Food was pretty good. Service was good as well. Only thing I dislike is the βmandatoryβ tip. After checking out and gave the tip to our server, another server, who did not actually serve us, came to the table and demanded additional tip. It is understandable to ask for more tip, taking into account it was on Christmas Day, but the way / manner he talked (demanded) was definitely not professional.

Excellent food, great taste. Most of the dishes are very authentic with generous portions. I had the chance to try both dinner and dim sum; can't think of anything in particular to recommend because my experiences were good inboth occasions. Weekend dim sum is extremely busy and would strongly recommend getting there a bit early.
